SPREQ advertising policy

Version 1.0, valid from 14 August 2026.

This document describes how advertising in SPREQ works. It applies to users and to advertisers.

This English text is a translation for convenience. The Dutch version is the legally binding one.

Part 1. For users

1. Where you see ads

Only on Free profiles. There you see one quiet ad card between the chats, which is always visible. All paid subscriptions are completely ad-free.

2. Our hard limits

What we doWhat we never do
One quiet card between the chatsSeveral ads at once
Always in the same fixed placeAn ad inside a conversation
Clearly marked as "Sponsored"At the top of the chat list
Small and unobtrusiveFull-screen ads
Quiet and silentAuto-playing video or sound
Only on Free profilesA pop-up when you open a chat

3. No targeting, chosen at random

Ads are chosen at random. They are not tailored to who you are, what you chat about, your location or your behaviour. We do not use an advertising ID and do not build an interest profile.

So we never tailor ads to:

We are technically unable to read the content of your conversations. Targeting based on it is therefore not only prohibited under our policy, it is impossible for us.

4. No consent or cookie banner needed

Because we do not place or read any advertising ID, cookies or trackers, no consent is required and we do not show a cookie banner. Nothing is recorded per person.

All ads are hosted by SPREQ itself. There is no ad network. The only thing we measure is anonymised totals per ad: impressions, clicks and the click-through rate. We share these with the advertiser, so they know how the ad is performing. This contains no personal data, and nothing else is sent to Google, other big tech companies or any other party whatsoever. See also the privacy statement.

5. Turning off ads

Ads cannot be dismissed. They are part of the Free plan. If you would rather not have them, every paid plan is completely ad-free. From Plus (€ 6 per year) onwards you no longer see ads.

6. Minors

We show personalised ads to no one, so not to minors either. Ads are random for everyone and not tailored to the individual.

7. Reporting an ad

If you see an ad that is misleading, offensive or illegal, report it via the report button on the ad or via abuse@spreq.nl. We assess reports within 5 working days.

Part 2. For advertisers

Advertising on SPREQ means being visible in a calm, brand-safe environment among a Dutch, privacy-conscious audience. One tidy spot between the chats, without cluttered ad slots and without competition from dozens of banners. Your ad stands on its own and gets full attention.

What you get. A fixed, clearly visible position on Free profiles. Brand-safe placement: no offensive or illegal content alongside it. Clear reporting of impressions, clicks and click-through rate (CTR). And a clean, privacy-friendly reputation, because there is no tracking or data trading behind it.

8. Who may advertise

Advertisers must be registered in a commercial register and be identifiable. We verify the advertiser before a campaign goes live.

9. What may not be advertised

10. Format requirements

11. Transparency and reporting

For every ad, the user can see:

As an advertiser you receive clear performance figures per ad: the number of impressions, the number of clicks and the click-through rate (CTR). These figures are anonymised totals. They contain no personal data and say nothing about who saw or clicked the ad.

12. Responsibility

The advertiser is responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the ad and for compliance with the Dutch Advertising Code and other legislation.

We may refuse or remove an ad without giving a reason.
