SPREQ accessibility statement

Version 1.0, valid from 14 August 2026.

This statement has been drawn up under the European Accessibility Directive (EU) 2019/882, implemented in the Netherlands through the Implementation Act on accessibility requirements for products and services. That legislation has applied since 28 June 2025.

This English text is a translation for convenience. The Dutch version is the legally binding one.

1. What this statement covers

2. The service we provide and how it works

SPREQ is a messaging service. The process consists of the following steps:

StepWhat the user does
1Download the app from the App Store or Google Play
2Create an account with a phone number or username
3Set up one or more profiles
4Add contacts
5Send and receive messages, photos and files
6Optionally make voice or video calls
7Optionally take out a paid subscription
8Get in touch with customer service

Every step must be possible to complete independently by people with a visual, auditory, motor or cognitive impairment.

3. The standard we meet

We aim for WCAG 2.1 level AA for both the app and the website. Among other things, this means:

4. Specific accessibility features of SPREQ

FeatureStatus
Support for VoiceOver and TalkBackPlanned
Dynamic font size following the system settingPlanned
High contrast and dark modePlanned
Operation without multi-finger gesturesPlanned
Vibration and a visual alert alongside sound for an incoming callPlanned
Voice messages can be supplemented with textPlanned
Subtitles or a text alternative for instructional videosPlanned
Customer service reachable by text (email and chat)Planned

For each row, fill in: meets, partially meets or planned. Be honest. A statement that says everything meets the standard when it does not is a greater risk than one that openly names what still needs to be done.

5. What is not yet accessible

SPREQ is still in development and available as a closed pilot. A full external accessibility test is planned before the public launch. We will publish known points for attention here, along with how we intend to resolve them, as soon as the test has been completed. If you already run into an accessibility problem now, please report it via toegankelijkheid@spreq.nl and we will look for a solution together.

For each point, state: what the problem is, who is affected by it, what alternative is available and when we will resolve it.

6. How we safeguard accessibility

7. This statement in other formats

This statement is available as text at spreq.nl/toegankelijkheid, and on request as a spoken audio file. Request this via toegankelijkheid@spreq.nl.

8. Feedback and contact

If you run into an accessibility problem, please report it via toegankelijkheid@spreq.nl. We respond within 5 working days and let you know what we are doing about it.

9. Supervision

In the Netherlands, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) supervises the accessibility of e-commerce services and electronic communication services. If you cannot resolve the matter with us, you can file a report there via acm.nl.

10. Preparation and review

This statement was drawn up on 14 August 2026 on the basis of a self-assessment. We review the statement at least once a year and whenever there is a significant change to the app or the website.
